Midlakes United Host Family Program
Welcoming Players to the Eastside
Each summer, Midlakes United brings talented collegiate and international players to the Eastside to compete in USL League Two. To make this possible, we partner with local families who open their homes to players and become an essential part of the Midlakes community experience.
Hosting a player is more than providing a place to stay. It’s joining our mission to build connection, opportunity, and a club woven into the heart of the Eastside.

Program Overview
The Midlakes United Host Family Program pairs players with local families for the duration of the USL2 season, which begins May 1 and lasts at least until mid-July (it can go until August 4, depending on how the team fares). Players train daily, compete once or twice per week, and spend much of their downtime with their host family or teammates. For many players, it’s their first time in the Pacific Northwest, and the memories they make with host families last long after the season ends.
Host families help create a welcoming environment that allows players to focus on their development, integrate into our community, and represent Midlakes United on and off the field.
Host Family Benefits
As a thank you for opening your home, Host families receive:
- Season tickets for the household
- Midlakes United scarves for the household
- Early bird invitations to club events, select training sessions, and special Host-family gatherings
- 25% off Midlakes United merchandise
What We Ask of Host Families
To ensure a safe and supportive environment, Host families provide:
- A private bedroom with:
- A bed
- Storage space (a dresser or closet)
- Access to WiFi
- Linens, towels, and basic necessities
- Food in a “family” context, or food that is available for your player to cook. The Midlakes Foundation can offset some food costs. If you would like to be considered for a stipend, note that in your host family survey.
- Access to a bathroom and laundry machines
- A welcoming, respectful space they can call home during the season
Homes with separate living areas (MIL suites, ADUs, private basements, detached cottages) are wonderful but not required. All interested families are encouraged to apply*.
While many families help with their player’s transportation, it is not mandatory.
Location Considerations
Players train at Bellevue College and compete throughout the Eastside and PNW. Host families located in or near Bellevue are ideal, especially for players relying on transit, rideshare, or team-organized transportation, but anyone excited to welcome a player and meet program requirements should apply.
Support from Midlakes United
We’re with you every step of the way. Midlakes United provides:
- Background checks for players and host families
- Full-season support from our staff for day-to-day questions
- A host family agreement outlining responsibilities and expectations
- Player transportation
- Regular check-ins throughout the season
Our goal is to make hosting smooth, rewarding, and well-supported.

“Dropping Tommaso off at the airport in July was a hard day for all of us lots of hugs (and tears). The house definitely felt a little emptier without him there… Such a wonderful experience for our family.”
